THE VALUE OF COACHING AND PRACTICE PITCH SESSIONS
When I was in college, learning the essay writing formula was a vital skill for passing a class. Mastering the formula for essays made my points quickly clear and understandable and saved me countless hours that I would have spent stressing about my writing assignments. Ultimately, mastering the procedure for essays allowed me to relax and led to high accomplishments. How does this apply to you?
WHY SHOULD I DO A PRACTICE PITCH SESSION?
Our research shows that some authors, particularly new ones, are not properly prepared for pitching resulting in high levels of stress, anxiety, and ultimately not getting picked up by an agent or publisher. So Diverse Writers and Readers International is offering RSJ convention coaching and a pitching formula for practice.
Last year RSJ Pitch Sessions resulted in authors Lisa Rayne, Kilby Blades, Saharra Sandhu, and Toni Shiloh, just to name a few, being picked up by either a publisher or agent for publishing opportunities that will soon be out at the end of 2021 and 2022. According to Liz Pelletier of Entangled Publishing, she’s been able to add authors from freelancers and writing groups due to the RSJ convention’s exposure as well. And we want to do what we can to help even more authors get published.
So let’s practice your pitch and introduce a formula so the next time you have the opportunity to participate in a pitch session, you can relax and walk away confident and proud of your pitch.
THE GOAL OF COACHING & PRACTICE PITCH SESSIONS
In this virtual coaching session, authors will receive a private group coaching session with author Miriam Pace for tips on quickly landing their storytelling pitch as they summarize the main story down to the basic elements while still leaving an agent or editor with the Wow factor. Additionally, authors will also get to practice their pitch with an editor (editors are not paid but have volunteered their time to help you hone in on your pitching skills.)
If you are interested in putting a pitching formula in place and practicing your pitching skills, sign up now before all spots are gone.
