Clean romantasy with no faith content. Romances that feature smart, older FMCs, as well as proposals in any of these categories from diverse voices.

Safiya Tariq
Editorial Assistant, Harlequin Presents
WISHLIST
- A forbidden love story with all the yearning in the world! I yearn to yearn. I’d love to see the conflict being driven by strong emotions, whilst seeming so impossible to overcome. Perhaps royals who are rivals by birth, who meet and have to hide their instant attraction? Or two CEOs who are competing for business, but their biggest challenge is ignoring the tension between them?
- A Harlequin Presents story with an LGBTQ+ couple. How about a male/male marriage of convenience? Between a playboy billionaire, and the well-mannered hero that will restore his reputation.
- Take me to a country no romance book has taken me to before! Does your story take place in a gorgeous Cambodian palace? Does your CEO have billion-dollar businesses in the Malaysian metropolis?
Rachael Nazarko
Assistant Editor, Harlequin Romance/ Harlequin Medical Romance
WISHLIST
I would love to see submissions that fit the series guidelines for Harlequin Presents, Harlequin Medical Romance and Harlequin Romance. I’m looking for fresh takes on favourite tropes and themes – including reimaginings of your favourite romcoms! I’d welcome stories from authors reflecting their own cultures and backgrounds, and own-voices stories from members of the LGBTQ+ community and people with disabilities. More specifically, I’m on the lookout for:
- Stories that take the reader to underrepresented locations. Latin American characters and settings are always a favourite of mine! For Harlequin Presents and Romance stories, the jet-set life is essential.
- In Medical Romance, high-stakes medical drama in big-city hospitals, especially alongside contemporary tropes. Give me enemies-to-lovers in the ER, fake-dating first responders, grumpy/sunshine surgeons…
- In Romance, contemporary and diverse spins on royalty stories. I’d love to see non-European royalty (fictional kingdoms are welcome!) and queer royal romances!
