Can you believe it! RSJ is celebrating 25 years of multicultural romance and women fiction novels? Yes, I said 25 years. The Silver Anniversary. And what’s so remarkable is, we continue to see new authors join the arena to writing amazing stories that wet our palate for inspiration, suspense, drama, and more that give us that happy ever after that we love.

25 years ago, RSJ started as a way to recognize and honor the authors that wrote stories about us for us. We continue to honor and acknowledge authors who . . . not only write great stories about our lives but also include an array of multicultural characters as well. That is something to be proud of.

We bow to the greatness of authors like Brenda Jackson, Beverly Jenkins, Rochelle Alers, the late Francis Ray, Evelyn Forrester, Leslie Esdaile Banks, and many more who broke the ground for the romance authors of today. Stories that show our history, our struggles, and our triumphs continue to prove that our stories are no doubt relatable and possess that special something that makes readers yearn for more.

So as we turn the corner to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Romance Slam Jam, the reader and writer event for multicultural stories, let us give thanks where thanks are due. If you are an author, thank you for the long days and nights of writing your great stories so that we, the readers, can sit back, relax, and enjoy great stories that are so engaging and charismatic. We may be able to read them in a week or even a day or two, but we know that the magic doesn’t just happen overnight.
