In just a little over two months, we’ll be Revving Up the Romance in the D! The Detroit planning committee is in full swing and trying to make sure everything is ready for your arrival. We have a FULL WEEK of activity planned for you. From Monday evening to late Saturday night we’ll be busy reacquainting ourselves with old friends and making new ones! But in order to make sure your arrival and stay go smoothly, there are a few things we need to cover:

REGISTRATION: If you haven’t registered for the conference yet, you need to do that BEFORE April 1st, when the late registration fees kick in. Register Today!  (The conference registration fee gains you entry into all Romance Slam Jam 2016 Conference Activities.) Can’t attend the whole conference? Come to one or more individual events!

HOTEL: Our conference hotel has recently changed ownership, and so The Royal Dearborn Hotel is now the Edward Village Michigan. Please note: the name is the ONLY thing affected by this change. The reservation phone number (313-592-3622 / group code “3991”) and online link http://www.hotel-dearborn.com/ remain the same. Due to this transition, there was a small problem with the reservations at the end of the year, but that problem has been completely resolved. Contrary to what you may have heard – ALL RESERVATIONS MADE UNDER THE RSJ GROUP BLOCK ARE IN TACK – NO RESERVATIONS WERE LOST DURING THE TRANSITION. On the upside, we have apparently booked more rooms than were originally anticipated, and new rooms have been added. So, if you haven’t booked yet, there are still rooms available!

AIRPORT SHUTTLE: The hotel does not offer a shuttle service, so we have made accommodations through SKOOT for the discounted price of $39.00 round trip. It is highly recommended you call 24 hrs ahead of your arrival time to book your airport pickup.

WEDNESDAY EVENING REGISTRATION & UGRR TOUR: For those of you planning to take the 2nd Baptist Underground Railroad Tour on Wednesday evening you need to make your reservations AHEAD OF TIME. Romance Slam Jam 2016 attendees get a special group rate of $28 per person for the Wednesday, April 27th tour @7pm. Just mention “Romance” to get your discount when ordering tickets by mail or phone. Send check or money order payable to Hometown History Tours to PO Box 284, Lincoln Park MI 48146. Charge via phone by calling 734.642.5712. There will be a shuttle from the hotel leaving at 6pm, but seating is limited. Please send us an email if you need a ride from the hotel. First come, first served.
