It’s time to decide that this will be your best year yet.
(Push Play Button in slider above and Enjoy this uplifting New Year Song called “This Year.”)

I don’t know about you, but this holiday season, I found myself (1) recovering from Covid and (2) reading books and binge-watching some of my favorite movies. I watched movies like,

  • It’s a Wonderful Life (It is not Christmas without It’s a Wonderful Life–Black & White version please),
  • A Christmas Carol (Watched in all its formats.  This one called It’s Christmas Carol! is even about a book publisher),
  • 12 Angry Men with Henry Fonda (Not a holiday film but exceptionally written and always an excellent film when learning about bias and diversity),
  • Sappy Holiday (I love stories with a message to learn), along with watching lots of other holiday romances,
  • Your Christmas or Mine (Two lovers learn more about each other without the other being there.  That’s all I’m going to say. This was so fun to watch and close to making my every year holiday movie list.  Your welcome.)
  • Last Christmas (This one stole my heart and had me literally singing along by the end.)
  • Boxing Day (A Christmas season multicultural cast of holiday fun that I ran across and found to be a refreshing mix as they travel from America to London. Don’t blame me if your face hurts from all the facial expressions you’ll be experiencing as you meet this London Caribbean family and the drama this American gal is shoved into.)
  • Riches (A new Amazon Original TV series of money, power, drama, and suspense with a multicultural cast–I’m sold!)
  • and one of my all-time favorites, Serendipity with John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale, I watched and continue to watch over and over again.

I also started reading “The Last Story of Mina Lee” by Nancy Jooyoun Kim.  And wow, can she describe a sunset or the bite into an apple while in a car like no one else.

I also got a chance to speak with STCC Book Club and newcomer author Ruby James about her book, “From Illustrating to Love: A Sweet Fake Relationship Romance.”  Readers found it unanimously enjoyable and amusing with its bits of rom-com moments.

And I’m enjoying the new release called Never Cross A Highlander by Lisa Rayne, sure to be a 2023 favorite read according to reviews since being published at the end of 2022 December right before the New Year Holiday. I especially like that RSJ Convention played a part in connecting another author to a publishing contract.  Lisa Rayne’s vision for a Black Highlander is fast becoming a favorite with romance readers and the book industry with its enemies to lovers banter and adventure story badassness. (Is that a word?)

And while reading and watching all the movies I had prescribed myself, that’s how I found this new year song called “This Year” on the Serendipity soundtrack; you’ll find it playing in the credits of the Serendipity Movie performed by Chantal Kreviazuk, written by Billy Steinberg, Marti Frederiksen, and Leah Andreone. I hope you enjoy it.

Have a fabulous New Year! Decide today that it will be your best year yet.  See you at the RSJ Virtual Romance Book Convention.
